Net Zero
Sustainability & Climate Action Plan
At The Gallery Trust, we are fully committed to a more sustainable future and leaving the world in a better place for future generations. Our strategy is closely aligned with both the DfE Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
We have embedded sustainability within the Trust’s estate vision and strategy, launched a comprehensive climate action plan, and are currently developing a decarbonisation roadmap with aspirational targets. Our journey has begun, with significant work underway to align our education, operations, and estates to ensure sustainable practice across everything we do.
Our Decarbonisation Strategy
Our decarbonisation plan is being developed using a dedicated energy portal, which monitors energy consumption and CO2e reduction targets as we work towards net zero. To support this, we have made substantial capital investments through:
- New-build projects: designed with long-term sustainability in mind.
- Low-carbon heating: implementing modern, efficient solutions.
- LED lighting: phased roll-outs to reduce energy demand.
- Solar PV arrays: generating renewable energy across our school estate.
These initiatives are funded through Condition Improvement Funds and School Condition Allocation funding. For detailed figures, you can view our Streamlined Energy Carbon Report within our annual accounts. We continue to seek additional grant funding to accelerate our progress.
A Greener Future for all
We are proud to embrace our role as an environmental leader, empowering our family of schools to work together in creating a thriving world for both current and future generations. We will keep this page updated with our progress and key milestones on our sustainability journey.
Together, we can make a positive impact on the planet and nurture a greener future for every learner.
